Abstract:
This research aimed at studying and comparing local wisdom usage in basic schools under the office of Surin Education Service Area 3. Classification was done according to sizes of schools . Research samples were 468 school administrators and teachers who heads of Career and Technology Cluster under the Office of Surin Education Service Area 3, where the basic education was organized from cluster 1 to cluster 3 in the academic year 2008. Research tools to collect data on application of local wisdoms in the schools were 5-leveled rating scale questionnaires and interview forms. The collected data were analyzed by mean and standard deviation. Statistics applied in hypothesis testing were t-test.
The research findings were as follows.
1. Application of local wisdoms in basic schools under the Office of Surin Education Service Area 3 was indicated at the middle level in overall aspect. While the individual aspect found at the high level was composed of agriculture, and philosophy, religion and tradition. Whereas the individual aspect found at the middle level was comprised of Thai traditional medicine, natural resource and environment management, community fund and business, fine art, language and literature, and nutrition.
2. Results in comparing the application of local wisdoms in basic schools under the Office of Surin Education Service Area 3, which were classified according to sizes of school, were found that the small sized schools and the large sized schools, where have applied local wisdoms in the overall aspect and the all individual aspect, yielded significant difference at the level of 0.05 .
