A study of competency in ingormation and communication technology amongst teachers teaching in the education group of arts (uisual arts) cluster 1 under the office of Sisaket educational area 1
Abstract:
Aims of this research were to study the competency on information and communication technology amongst teachers teaching in the education group of Art (Visual Arts), cluster 1, the Office of Sisaket Educational Area 1,Visual Arts), cluster 1, the Office of Sisaket Educational Area 1. Research samplers were composed of 140 teachers teaching in the education group of Arts (Visual Arts), cluster 1, the Office of Sisaket Educational Area 1. The researcher used the Krejcie and Morgan Formula as the closed-ended rating scale questionnaire with is yielded reliability of 0.97. The collected data were analyzed by mean (x ̅) and standard deviation (S.D.)
The research findings were found as follows : (1) The teachers, teaching in the education group of Arts (Visual Arts), cluster 1, the Office of Sisaket Educational Area 1, achieved their competency in information and communication technology at the low level (x ̅ = 2.23) in every aspect. In an individual aspect, the result was indicated that the computer application for education was at the middle level (x ̅ = 2.55) the internet usage was pointed at the low level (x ̅ = 2.42), the runner-ups were the operating system (x ̅ = 2.39) and the education assessment by using computer (x ̅ = 2.38) respectively. (2) the respondents mutually opined that the teachers, teaching in the education group of Arts (Visual Arts), cluster 1, the Office of Sisaket Educational Area 1, should have the competency in information and communication technology needed for education management at the high level in the following aspects. 1) Hardware knowledge e.g. a process in microphone application for voice recording by computer, a process for taking photos by digital camera, CD Rom drive application, and a process to use scanner, 2) Operating system application e.g. Ms-Windows and Linux. 3) Software application e.g. cancellation of program installation, program application study, and program exit,. 4) Package program application e.g. Tell Me More Program, Spelling and Grammar in Microsoft Word, Word Processor such as Microsoft Word, Program Application for Print Matters to present and to disseminate in internet such as Acrobat. 5) Internet application e.g. data record downloaded from internet to diskette, introduction to internet application, Website counselor such as E-mail, Web board, Co-studying via website such as E-mail, chat, Search Engine Application such as Google and Yahoo. 6) Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) and Web-based Instruction, Application for computer assisted instruction and Web-based Instruction. 7) Computer Application applied for Education e.g. an education handbook production, a graphic matter production, an electronic media production, data saved and complied by computer as a hardcopy document. 8) Education assessment by computer application e.g. Data collection and Data Process for Self-assessment, Package Program for calculating raw points of examination. 9) Law, etiquette, and ethic regarding to information and communication technology e.g. Knowledge on ethics of Information Technology, Knowledge on Etiquette of Information Technology. In-session Promotion of Famines-Ethics-and Law in Information Technology, and Knowledge on Law of Information Technology.
