A study of competency in information and communication technology of teachers teaching social studies, religion and cultures, cluster 1 education group, Sisaket educational service area office 1
Abstract:
This research aimed (1) to specify basic competency in information and communication technology of teachers teaching Social Studies, Religions and Cultures, Cluster I Education Group, Sisaket Education Service Area Office 1, and (2) to examine basic competency in information and communication technology of teachers teaching Social Studies, Religions and Cultures, Cluster I Education Group, Sisaket Education Service Area Office 1 in the aspects of knowledge and skill. Respondents of the research questionnaires were 197 teachers teaching Social Studies, Religions and Cultures, Cluster I Education Group, Education Service Area Office 1. They were selected by simple random sampling from 243 schools, regarding to Krejcie and Morgans Formula.
Research tools were forms of document analysis and a questionnaire designed to survey 2 aspects of teachers competency in information and communication technology, including knowledge and skills competency. Research findings were concluded as follows :
The competency found in information and communication technology of teachers teaching Social Studies, Religions and Cultures, Cluster I Education Group, Sisaket Education Service Area Office 1 revealed as follows : (1) Knowledge Competency composed of the Fundamental of Information and Communication Technology, Computer Study comprised of Hardware, System Software, Application Software, Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI), Other electronic equipments, Internet, Legal and Ethics in Using information and communication technology, and Introduction to Computer (2) Computer Skill composed of ability to command or control instruction on system program / application program, skills on Application Software, Skill on Computer Assisted instruction (CAI), skills on Internet, and skills on other electronic equipments.
The finding of basic competency in information and communication technology of teachers teaching Social Studies, Religions and Cultures, Cluster I Education Group, Sisaket Educational Area Office 1, was that the represented teachers achieved their overall competency of knowledge competency and skill competency at the middle point ( ) in information and communication technology, considering individual aspects, the researcher found that the surveyed teachers had their overall competency at the middle point ( ). While the individual items indicated that the knowledge in fundamental of information and communication technology of those teachers has been the first rank of competency rated at the high point ( ). The knowledge in computer and its hardware has been shown the second rank of competency rated at the middle point ( ).and the knowledge in Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) has revealed the lowest rank of competency rated at the low point ( ).The result of skill competency showed that the surveyed teachers had their overall competency at the middle point ( ). The individual items indicated that the skills on computer and ability to command or control instruction on system program / application program of those teachers indicated the first rank of competency rated at the high point ( ). Skills on other electronic equipments revealed the second rank of competency rated at the middle point ( ). However, the skills on Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) were been the lowest rank of competency rated at the low point ( ).
