Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to investigate the history, influence, value, trend in empowerment and conservation of Klong Yao ensemble which has effect upon Khmer ethno group which domiciling along Phanom Dongrek mountain. The key informants sampling groups of Klong Yao ensembles were categorized into three groups, such as, performers and musicians of Ruam Jai Samakhi group, Prasat Beng group and Pin Khaen Saw group as well as those who concerned in participation with the said groups. Mixed methodology were used in this research and presented in descriptive analysis.
The findings of the research were ; Klong Yao ensemble earned its long respective history. This genre of folk play, which was favorably performed on any celebrated occasion or on any festival of Isan community, has disseminated into Khmer ethno group about 12 years ago. In Klong yao ensemble the long drums, which taking main part of the band, were fixed to gain more number than any other type of drum or any accompanying instrument. The tone color of Isans Klong Yao ensemble is different from those of the ensemble in central region of life. Klong Yao playing significant rolls on leading accompaniment of various parades, festive celebrations covered period of year. As well as the style of the performance, particularly, the unique characteristic of Isan melodic, rhythmic and performing patterns in regard to tempo which accelerating from slow to fast in harmonizing with southern Isan music and other popular tunes.
Subsequently, in the aspect of attitude assessment found that, Klong Yao ensembles earned its value in spiritual, rhythm, melody, social, empowerment, and conservation are in high level. The attitude in needs to be Klong Yao member is in low level. The trends of conservation and empowerment of Klong Yao ensembles depend on annual contests, raising fund, and assignment to curricular schooling.
