Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the level of perception of household in the state of problems and waste management 2) to study the comparisons the level of perceptions in waste management and the level of participation in waste management 3) The comparison of the level of households perception and the relationship between the perception of state and problems of waste management and the participation in waste management. The level in case of variables size of the household location of the household, in formation perception, the supportive in waste management and 4) to study the relationship between the level of perception in waste management and the level of participation in waste management at the municipal Kung-An sub-district, Prasat district, Surin province.
The samples group consisted of 2,151 households in registration of the municipal Kung-An sub-district, Prasat district, Surin province. The size of the sample group was a reliability of 95 level and proportion stratified random sampling in order to get 327 populations.
The data were collected in January to April 2005. The instruments used for collecting data was a questionnaire at the confidential level of 0.9293 including open ended questions in order to answer about problems and recommendations. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, F-test; One-way ANOVA analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) the differences between the rage compared using Scheffes method. The qualitative data from open ended questions and focus group discussion were analyzed by content analysis. The results of this study were as follows:
1. General state of the sample groups. Most of the sample groups were 3-4 family members. (47.70%) The location of the households were in the community (82.30%) The information perception was (61.80%) acknowledgement from televisions (36.10%) supportive in waste management from the municipal. (58.70%) litter in the litter bins and municipals litter bins (95.10%). The wastes were vegetables fruits leaves. Plants trees and meat (70.90%) the household disposable rubbish is plastic container or colored container (75.50%) and the average quantity of the household rubbish is 0.1-10 kilograms per day (98.50%)
2. The perception of state and problems in waste management of the households waste management wear at high when it was considered in area case the participation in waste management wear at medium and the waste management wear at high.
3. The participation in waste management of the households. The participation in waste management of the households wear at high level.
4. The comparisons of the level of households perception and the relationship between the perception of state and problems of waste management and the participation in waste management. The independent variables in this research were the size of household, the location of household the information perception, the supportive of waste management. The dependent variables were the perception of state and problems, the waste management and the participation in waste management of the households. The comparative results of the level of perception waste management and the level of participation in waste management were not in statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 the qualitative data in the aspect of location information perception and supportive in waste management were a statistically significant differences in the relationship of the perception of the state and problems, waste management and the participation in waste management of the households.
5. The perception of state and problems and waste management had relationship with the participation in waste management of household. There was a statically significant difference at the level of 0.01.
