Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the state of the learning management using child-centered approach in the secondary schools under the department of general education, Changwat Surin. The samples of the research were 380 students and 327 teachers in the secondary schools under the department of general education, Changwat Surin in the second semester of the 2001 academic year. The samples were randomly selected by stratified random sampling. The research instruments were questionnaires with 5 level rating scales for students and teachers. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviations, percentages and mean comparison by independent sample t-test and One-way ANOVA
The result revealed that :
1. The practices of learning by using child-centered approach was at medium level.
2. The practices of learning using child-centered approach between lower and upper secondary school students
were significantly different at the .05 level.
3. The practices of teaching by using child-centered approach were at high level.
4. The practices of teaching by using child-centered approach between 20-24-year-old group and 35-39-year-old group were significantly different at the .01 level, the practice of teaching by child-centered approach between 25-29-year-old group and 35-39-year-old group were significantly different at the . 05 level. The practices of teaching using child-centered approach between teachers with teaching experience of 1-4 year group and 10-14 year group were significantly different at the .05 level and there was no significant difference between male and female groups.
