Abstract:
Waste pollution from the pig farm derived from dung and wastewater affected the community extensively. Therefore, the technology used needs to be more effective and environmentally friendly. Biogas System is one strategy preferable. The objective of this research were to study the socio-economic status, waste treatment, the opinion of pig farm entrepreneurs in a biogas system investment, and the comparison of the characteristics of using and not using in a biogas system. The sample of the study were 147 entrepreneurs in Livestock Region Zone 7. Data was collected by the use of questionnaires and statistically by percentage, mean, standard deviation and Chi-square were the first part of the study. The second part was the financial and economic analysis of the Biogas System's investment in three farming size includes small, medium and large farm by using 50 100 and 1,000 cubic m of biogas system respectively. The criterion utilized in the benefit-cost analysis were NPV, BCR, and IRR at discounting rate of 8 10 12 and 14. Moreover, sensitivity analysis and switching value were tested. The finding in the first part indicated that the majority of the Livestock's entrepreneur had their own farm. They had no social position. Some people were members of The Swineherd Association. Almost all were married and lived in their farm area. The majority of farmer had an experience more than 11 years. The water used in the farm was mainly underground water. Concerning the present wastewater treatment, in present situation of waste matter treatment, it was found that there was an explosion of wastewater out of the farm in directly more than half of the samples. The strategies used for the treatment were digging and stopping pond for wastewater and to transfer to the outside farm. There were some farms that provided wastewater treatment systems and recycled the water. The treatment of pig dung, smell, and polluted flies was to dry the dung and pack for selling. Moreover, the factors affecting the biogas system investment were the house location, the experience in pig farm, increased job burden, security system, maintenance and repairing ability, the opinion in benefit gained from environmental improvement. On financial analysis, it was found that the medium farm firstly provided the possibility and worthiest in investment, second was small farm and large farm. Besides, the results of economic analysis concluded that the medium farm yielded the worthiest result to investment and has the most investment possibility followed by large farm and small farm respectively. There was also the suggestion for creating a biogas system for controlling the system correctly including monitoring, suggesting and solving the problem automatically in biogas system as well as providing a work shop for the entrepreneurs in farm in order to be able to use the biogas with various engines efficiently and effectively. The government should pay more attention to the investment of biogas system in medium farm.
