Relationships between constructive organizational culture, administrative roles performance competency of head nurses, organizational citizenship behavior, and performance of nursing department as percieved by staff nurses, private hospitals accredited by joint commission international
Abstract:
This descriptive correlational study aimed to study performance of nursing department and to examine the relationships between constructive organizational culture, administrative roles performance competency of head nurses, organizational citizenship behavior, and performance of nursing department as perceived by staff nurses, private hospitals accredited by Joint Commission International. The sample consisted of 331 staff nurses, selected by multi - stage sampling technique. The research instruments were constructive organizational culture questionnaire, administrative roles performance competency of head nurses questionnaire, organizational citizenship behavior questionnaire, and performance of nursing department questionnaire. Content validity was established by a panel of experts. Internal reliability was established by using Cronbach’ alpla coefficients at .90, .96, .93 and .93 respectively. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient.
Principle findings were:
1. Performance of nursing department as perceived by staff nurses, private hospitals accredited by Joint Commission International was at the good level ( = 3.93; SD = 0.52).
2. Constructive organizational culture and organizational citizenship behavior were positively and significantly related to performance of nursing department, at the .05 level (r =0.703 and .762) respectively
3. Administrative roles performance competency of head nurses was positively and significantly related to performance of nursing department, at the .05 level (r =0.689)
