Abstract:
The objectives of this research are : to study the message design in informative news release e.g. pres release and photo release by means of content analysis and in-depth interview, to study the reporters’s need on issues and presentation styles, and to survey the media exposure, and perception toward science and technology news. Questionnaires were used for collect data from 400 samples, from people living in Bangkok. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance were used for an analysis of data. SPSS Program was used for data processing. The finding were as follow: the strategies for message design are to point out the consequence of news issues, to select newsworthy topic rely on current trends, to write the news release appealing to audiences, conciseness and pertinent style, and adding statistic or data to enhance news values. Reporters are interested and want the news issue concerning the prominence of science discoveries, strongly influence technologies, applied research for industrial and agricultural sectors and easily to understand news. Media exposure about science and technology news was at the medium level. The most media exposure was television, newspaper and exhibition respectively. The perception of science and technology news from mass media was moderate. The perception of science and technology news from mass media was moderate nevertheless the perception of news releases from science and technology organizations was low. The people different in occupation were different in media exposure, the perception of science and technology news from mass media and the perception of news releases from science and technology organizations.
