Abstract:
The research aimed to study risks of internet usage by adolescents in Bangkok metropolis, attitude of adolescents in Bangkok metropolis and ways to protect risks of internet usage. The study focused on the relationship of factors such as sex, group of friends, chat room, website, e-mail and place to use internet. This study used questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 300 and adolescents who used internet from internet cafe at samyan, siamsquare and silom area and in-depth interviews were conducted with 10 adolescents. The results were analysed by using statistical significant test percentile, frequency, mean, chisquare test and inductive methods for in-depth interview. Research results showed the numbers of female samples were equal to male samples. Most of them were 20 years of age, single, studied at undergraduate and lived wiht family at home in Bangkok metropolis. The average income was 2,000-5,000 baht per month. Most of internet usage access to website webboard, chat room and e-mail for entertainment. Adolescents had a positive attitude toward risks of internet usage. When the hypotheses were tested, it was found that sex, chat room, website, e-mail and place to use internet had statistical significant relationship with risks of internet usage at 0.05 level but group of friends did not had statistical significant at 0.05 level.
