Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to carry out an analysis of genera cost and unit cost to health promotion and disease prevention services of health centers in Prachinburi province for fiscal year 2006. The analysis was base on the provider's perspective. Cost center activity criteria were used. Total cost could be separated into main cost. Total cost and indirect cost. In each of these areas, three costs (labour, capital and material) were examined. Indirect cost will be allocated to absorbing cost center by Simultaneous equation method. This study was a descriptive study and all health centers were selected. The study populations were six health centers and eight general health centers. Data were collected using a self created recording chart. It was found that the average total cost to health promotion and disease prevention services of health centers was 15,967,626.33 baht. Health promotion service have the ratio of the component costs (labour cost : material cost : capital cost) was 4.58 : 1.64 : 1 and disease prevention service have the ratio of the component costs (labour cost : material cost : capital cost) was 3.97 : 2.43 : 1. The average total cost of health promotion was 874.72 baht for curative care, maternal and child health, family planning , immunization, nutrition, school health, support for participation in heath promotion, heath education and home visit activities were 188.02, 87.52, 190.97, 55.13, 126.26, 24.09, 56.66 and 146.07 baht respectively. The average total cost of disease prevention was 865.07 baht for curative care, disease surveillance, preventive and control HIV disease, preventive and control DHF disease, preventive and control bird flu, preventive and control disease, environment sanitation, physical check-up for the general population and risk groups and dental health prevention activities were 104.10, 144.65, 173.72, 86.55, 75.89, 157.68, 47.22 and 75.26 baht respectively. The result of this study are used as a guideline for managerial decision making and service and may be beneficial for planning to increase the efficiency.
