Abstract:
To calculate cost, effectiveness and anlyze the cost-effectiveness in term of cost per HIV-infection detected for activities in HIV serosurveillance at Ubon Ratchathani Province in 1999, which was performed in 6 target population from the perspective of provider. The study designs was a cross-sectional descriptive which collected data by using retrospective surveys (1-30 June 1999). Cost center was classified into direct and indirect cost center. Simultaneous Equation Method was used to allocate the cost by using appropriated criteria. It was found that the cost of HIV serosurveillance among injecting drug users (IVDU), donated blood, prenant women attended government ante-natal care clinic (ANC), direct commercial sex workers (CSWs), male receives treatment at STD clinic (STDs) and indirect commercial sex workers were 3,544.33 baht/visit, 3,088.56 baht/visit, 2,915.81 baht/visit, 2,793.42 baht/visit, 513.85 baht/visit and 499.98 baht/visit respectively. However, cost per HIV-infection detected among those groups were 23,628.86 baht, 933,626.35 baht, infinity, 11,732.34 baht, 8,564.08 baht and 7,272.44 baht respectively.
