Relationships between personal factors, ethical climate in nursing departments, employee involvement, and quality of working life of staff nurses, general hospitals, central region
Abstract:
The purpose of this research were to investigate the relationships between personal factors, ethical climate of nursing departments, employee involvement and quality of working life of staff nurses, and to search for the variable that could be able to predict quality of working life of staff nurses. The subjects consisted of 362 staff nurses selected by multi-stage sampling technique. The research instruments were personal factors questionnaire, ethical climate of nursing departments questionnaire, and quality of working life of staff nurses questionnaire. The content validity were established. The reliability by Cronbach's alpha coefficients were .94, .90 and .83, respectively. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson's product moment correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major finding were as follows: 1. Ethical climate of nursing departments, employee involvement and quality of working life of staff nurses, general hospitals. Central region, were at high level, medium level, and high level respectively. 2. Ethical climate of nursing departments and employee involvement were positive significantly relate to quality of working life of staff nurses (r=0.593, r= 0.644) at .05 level. 3. Variables which significantly predicted quality of working life of staff nurses, at .05 level were ethical climate in nursing departments, employee involvement. The prediction accounted for 44.2 percent of the variance (R[superscript 2]=.442).
