Abstract:
To construct shared governance management program in patient unit, to compare job satisfaction among nursing personnel in the experimental group before and after using of shared governance management program, and to compare job satisfaction between the experimental and the control group at Phramongkutklao Hospital. The research samples of 30 nursing personnel were selected through matched pair method. The experimental group consisted of 15 nursing personnel from Female Private Medical Ward, were received shared governance management program, the control group consisted of 15 nursing personnel from Male Private Medical Ward, were continued traditional management. Two instruments were developed by the researcher, the first instrument consisted of shared governance management program and shared governance management program manual for nursing personnel. The second instrument was job satisfaction questionnaire for nursing personnel which was constructed from Slavitt et al conceptual framework (1978). The reliability of the job satisfaction questionnaire tested by Cronbach Alpha Coefficient was .93. Major results of the study were as follows 1. The efficiency of the shared governance management program from the first and the sixth week of an experimentation, evaluated by the experimental group, was significant difference at the .05 level, mean score of the evaluation by the sixth week was higher than that of the first week. Practicality evaluation of the program performed 12 times through observation by the researcher. The results revealed that, 16 activities were performed 12 times, 6 activities were performed 11 times and one activity was performed 10 times. 2. Job satisfaction between the experimental and the control group, before and after the experimentation was significant difference at the .05 level, mean score after the experimentation was higher than that of before an experimentation. It revealed that, before and after experimentation, job characteristics and staff relationship among the control group was significant difference at the .05 level. The mean score of the experimentation was higher than that of before experimentation, while job autonomy was not significant difference. 3. Job satisfaction between the experimental and the control group, before experimentation was not different. After the experimentation, job satisfaction between the experimental and the control group was significant difference at the .05 level. The mean score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group
