Abstract:
The purpose of this research was threefold, namely, to culminate HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej's philosophy of higher education in apparent essences and core concepts organized into taxonomies according to dimensions in the field of philosophy, and to be implemented in management and governance of higher education. The research design is documentary using accumulation, synthesis and taxonomization his majesty's speeches. The study was validated by experts in a connoiseurship model. Results of the study laid bare eight domains of philosophical principles, namely (1) university missions, (2) higher education management, (3) goals of higher education, (4) students / learners and graduates, (5) faculty members and educators, (6) curriculum in higher education (7) instructional deliveries in higher education and (8) academic ethics, Findings were categorized into domains of five philosophical approaches, namely, (1) idealism: on mind ideas and mentality, (2) realism: on the world of things, (3) neo-thomism: on the world of reason, (4) experimentalism: the world of experiences and (5) existentialism: on being. Findings were taxonomies of his majesty's philosophies of higher education comprising 129 core concepts, Additionally, essences regarding the implementation in higher education management, curricula, instructional delivery, assessment and evaluation, institutional quality assurance, staff development and student development. All there findings were to be implemented in higher education institutions in managing and governing processes to the benefits of higher education and the nation. Essential findings were as follows. HMS' philosophical approach mainly was in accordance with experimentalism. His geosocial philosophy underlying higher education contained three attributes, namely, (1) Dhamma in the sense of main ideas, principles and higher education theories and practices; (2) Practices with disciplinary accuracy of proper experimentation on balance with geosocial contexts; and (3) Goals ultimately for the benefits of higher education, national education and the country as a whole
