Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to analize misspelling and types of difficulty to spell Thai words that were misspelled by Prathom Suksa Three students in Schools Under The Jurisdiction of The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Samples were 452 Prathom Suksa Three students in academic year 2539 B.E. Research instruments were ten spelling tests, 50 words per one, designed by the researcher. Findings : 1. Writing difficult spelling Thai words of Prathom Suksa Three students varied in misspelling, The most misspelling was the one which combined in combination of many types of misspelling, different types of misspelling. The lesser ones varied orderly from final consonant misuse, silent mark misuse, consonant misuse, vowel misuse, tonal mark misuse, vowel misplace, and the least was the tonal mark misplace. 2. There were different types of difficulty to spell Thai words for Prathom Suksa Three. The most difficult one was words with several syllables. The lesser varied orderly from unused words in daily life, words transliterated from foreign language, words with double initial consonants as clustered consonants or having ห or อ leading the other consonants, words using the same letter as both final and initial consonant, words in poetry and words for royally, words with abstract meaning, words with รร (รหัน), words with a silent mark, words with vowel alteration or elimination when having a final letter, words with /a/ sound having (ะ) vowel and not having (ะ) vowel, and the least difficult one was the words with exceptional final letter or with double final letters.
