Abstract:
To analyze Jataka tales which promoted peace dhama for the young children in terms of peaceful conflict resolution and living together in harmony. Five hundred and forty seven Jataka tales printed by Crown Golden Jubilee of the King Committee, Department of Art, 1996, were selected by the analysis criteria of peace promoting for the young children. Teachers interviews and child observation were used to analyze the implementation guidelines of the Jataka tales. The finding were: 1. There were 39 Jataka tales concerning peace dhamma for the young children, 20 concerning refraining from misconduct and 19 concerning performing good conduct. 2. Jataka tales could be used to promote peace dhamma for young children but the language needed to be adjusted to their level of understanding, and the implementation needed to be developmentally appropriate to the young children who learn by doing and imitating. The teacher role models and peaceful environment were necessary. As role models of the young children, it was necessary for the teachers to developed their inner peace and provide peaceful classroom environment
