Abstract:
The Production of Flowerpot by Waste from Palm Oil Extraction Industry
The wastes from palm oil extraction industry are palm oil fibers and palm oil ashes. The purpose of this research
was to examine the optimum properties of the flowerpots production made from palm oil fibers and palm oil ashes. The
experiment was investigated by finding the optimum quantity of materials and physical properties, i.e. absorption and
evaporation in the different mixtures of materials. The results showed that the optimum ratio of palm oil fibers and glues for
produce palm oil fiber flowerpots was 200 g and 150 g, respectively. Moreover, the optimum ratio of palm oil fibers, palm
oil ashes and glues for produce palm oil fiber-palm oil ash flowerpots was 180 g, 70 g and 150 g, respectively, these ratio
were easy to set and made an appropriate shape. The absorption rate of palm oil fiber flowerpots was more absorbable
than palm oil fiber-palm oil ash flowerpots and saturated equally in 35 min. Furthermore, the evaporation rate of palm oil
fiber flowerpots was more evaporable than palm oil fiber-palm oil ash flowerpots which inverse variation to the time of
evaporation, 132 hr and 156 hr, respectively.
