Abstract: In this study, we developed a method that generated a theoretical watershed from a digital elevation model (DEM) with the Mathematica program using Delaunay triangulation. The DEM represents the elevations of Amphoe Phipun, Nakhon Si Thammarat. We created the 3D with GRASS 5.0.2 to compare geography between the DEM and the 3D. The DEM was studied in order to produce a theoretical watershed. Our method assigned every grid cell in the DEM with a “flow direction”. The Deterministic 8 (D8) algorithm assigned a flow direction to the cell in the center by considering the direction of the largest drop in elevation. It was used to generate stream networks and watershed delineation.
