Abstract:
Warehouse is a business that has a significant role in the current transport. It use as a location for storage and distribution of available inventory. Warehouse for rent can be found everywhere in downtown and industrial areas. Sorme warehouses cannot serve for the uncertain forms of current warehouse management such as location inappropriate. The bulding is is not
enough to storage. Range of contract is not flexible for certain types of products such as seasonal items that need a short period to storage.
This paper studies the design of modular warehouse. The study compared the costs of construction and installation between modular warehouse and fixed warehouse. Also the interest of customers is investigated.
The modular warehouse is designed for area 600 square meters, 20 m Wx 30 m L x 8 m H and a height of 2 meters of gable. Function in warehouse is included office, toilet and storage area. In order to compare the cost of modular warehouse and fixed warehouse, it does not include foundations and floor. The basis price of modular warehouse is 3,000 baht per square meter which is lower than fixed warehouse that has the average cost 5,850 baht per square meter. The lower cost of modular warehouse is reasonable regarding to materials used in construction is steel that has a special design for high strength and low cost. Also the modular warehouse has competitive price of demolition and re-installation. Another advantage for modular warebouse is installation time to takes only 20-30 days.
The study found that the respondents interested in modular warehouse at level 3 is a lot of attention as the modular warehouse has hugh strength of structure and its safe and it can be set to adjust size and location when compared with fixed warehouse.
