Applying multimedia learning theory for intelligent teaching software evaluation in chinese language courses: A Case study of a Thai primary school
Abstract:
As China's global influence continues to grow, the demand for Chinese language education worldwide has surged rapidly. In Thailand, learning Chinese has become an increasingly popular trend, particularly at the primary school level. With advancements in educational technology, intelligent Chinese language learning applications have emerged as innovative tools, offering learners an engaging and interactive learning experience. Although the use of such applications is becoming more widespread in Thai schools, there remains a lack of in-depth research on their effectiveness in improving students listening and speaking skills. This study explores the application of Multimedia Learning Theory (MLT) in evaluating the use of intelligent Chinese learning software among second-grade students in a Thai primary school. The research aims to assess the suitability of three applicationsWukong, Duolingo, and Super Chineseby analyzing their multimedia design elements. A mixed-methods approach combining both qualitative and quantitative research was employed. Thirty second-grade bilingual students were randomly divided into three groups, with each group using one application over a fixed period. Listening and speaking skills were assessed through pre-tests and post-tests, while student feedback was collected through a satisfaction survey. The findings are expected to provide empirical evidence on the role of multimedia elements in enhancing language learning outcomes, helping educators select appropriate software aligned with Thai primary curriculum objectives. The study will offer practical insights into improving the quality of Chinese language education through customized multimedia integration.
