Abstract:
This paper describes the process to successfully
contact prototypes of semiconductor nano-devices by
wire-bonding and gluing processes. It starts with the
preparation of the prototype samples by molecular beam
epitaxial growth and metal evaporations. The samples
are typically small and irregular pieces of quantum-dot
containing semiconductors wafers. The wire-bonding of
gold pads are prepared on a conventional circuit board
and then transferred to the devices, which have been
glued on a standard 24-pin socket. Electrically
conductive glue is applied to make a contact the
prototype and the gold pad. After thermal curing, a
conventional wire-bonding of the pad and the socket pin
is performed. The current-voltage characteristic of the
devices under illumination is reported as it shows the
successfulness of the developed processes.
