Dual-frequency six-port reflectometer technique for quality determination of para rubber latex
Abstract:
This paper presents a dual-frequency six-port reflectometer (SPR) applied to determine dry rubber content (DRC) in para rubber latex. The SPR consists of a wideband microwave source, a six-port ring circuit, a tunable matching circuit, and a microcontroller unit. Two stable frequencies at 1 and 2.16 GHz are proposed for sensing dry rubber content in para rubber latex under test. Several samples of 20-60% DRC concentrated para rubber latex are measured at both frequencies under the temperature range of 20 - 45°C. These data sets are prepared for training and testing for obtaining a temperature-independent model for DRC determination. Three machine learning algorithms, Bayesian Regularization algorithm (BRA), Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (LMA), and Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG), are applied for model training. Based on the experiment data sets, the BRA yields 0.157 mean square error for training and 0.163 for testing while the regression values for training and testing are 0.999.
