Guidelines for promoting durian production for export by farmers in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract: The objectives of this research were threefold: (1) to examine the current conditions of durian production for export; (2) to analyze the factors influencing the durian production process for export; and (3) to propose guidelines for promoting durian production for export. The target population consisted of durian farmers in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, specifically in Tha Sala, Sichon, and Nopphitam Districts, totaling 3,254 households. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane's formula with a margin of error set at 0.05, resulting in a total of 360 respondents. Data were collected using a structured interview questionnaire, which demonstrated a reliability coefficient of 0.921 as measured by Cronbach's alpha. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation, as well as multiple regression analysis using the enter method. The findings revealed that farmers’ practices related to the promotion process of durian production for export were at the lowest level. Six variables were found to have a statistically significant influence on the durian production promotion process for export (p < 0.05). Among these, five variables exhibited a positive relationship: (1) the price of durianfor export, (2) household borrowing, (3) access to information on durian production technology for export, (4) farmers’ contact with government officials, and (5) experience in training related to durian production for export. Conversely, one variable demonstrated a negative relationship: gender. The study concluded that the guidelines for promoting durian production for export should encompass the following ten components: (1) promotion of regular engagement between farmers and agricultural extension officers; (2) promotion of best practices in the production process to ensure high-quality durian for export; (3) promotion of academic knowledge transfer related to durian production for export; (4) encouragement and support for farmers to join agricultural groups; (5) promotion of effective communication to enhance understanding and dissemination of area-based agricultural extension activities; (6) promotion of follow-up visits and monitoring of durian producers; (7) promotion of support mechanisms for farmers affected by agricultural disasters, including encouraging farmers to register and regularly update their agricultural records to facilitate timely assistance; (8) promotion of digital technology adoption among durian producers; (9) promotion of access to agricultural tools and equipment for farmers; and (10) promotion and support of area-based extension operations.

Abstract: การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก 2) วิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อกระบวนการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก และ 3) เสนอแนวทางการส่งเสริมการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ เกษตรกรผู้ปลูกทุเรียนในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ประกอบด้วย อำเภอท่าศาลา อำเภอสิชล และอำเภอนบพิตำ จำนวนประชากรทั้งหมด 3,254 ครัวเรือน ที่ได้จากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling) จากนั้นทำการคำนวณขนาดกลุ่มตัวอย่างโดยการใช้สูตรของ Taro Yamane ความคลาดเคลื่อนที่ยอมรับได้ที่ระดับ 0.05 ได้ขนาดกลุ่มตัวอย่าง จำนวน 360 คน เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์ที่มีค่าความเชื่อมั่น 0.921 ตามวิธีของ Cronbach วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยสถิติพรรณนาเพื่อหาค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าต่ำสุด ค่าสูงสุด ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุ (Multiple Regression Analysis) โดยวิธีคัดเลือกเข้าทั้งหมด ผลการศึกษา พบว่า การปฏิบัติเกี่ยวกับกระบวนการส่งเสริมการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก เกษตรกรมีการปฏิบัติอยู่ในระดับน้อยที่สุด โดยปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อกระบวนการส่งเสริมการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออกอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (Sig<0.05) มีจำนวน 6 ตัวแปร เป็นตัวแปรเชิงบวก 5 ตัวแปร ได้แก่ ราคาผลผลิตที่ส่งออก การกู้เงินของครัวเรือน การได้รับข้อมูลข่าวสารเกี่ยวกับเทคโนโลยีการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก การติดต่อกับเจ้าหน้าที่ทางภาครัฐของเกษตรกร และประสบการณ์ในการฝึกอบรมเกี่ยวกับการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก ในขณะที่ตัวแปรเชิงลบมี 1 ตัวแปร ได้แก่ เพศ การศึกษาสรุปได้ว่าแนวทางการส่งเสริมการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก ประกอบด้วย 1) การส่งเสริมด้านการติดต่อกับเจ้าหน้าที่ส่งเสริมการเกษตร 2) การส่งเสริมแนวทางการปฏิบัติในกระบวนการผลิตเพื่อให้ได้ทุเรียนที่มีคุณภาพ 3) การส่งเสริมการถ่ายทอดความรู้ทางวิชาการด้านการผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก 4) การส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนให้เป็นสมาชิกกลุ่มเกษตรกร 5) การส่งเสริมการสื่อสารสร้างความเข้าใจและเผยแพร่การดำเนินงานส่งเสริมการเกษตรเชิงพื้นที่ 6) การส่งเสริมการเยี่ยมเยียนติดตามผลแก่เกษตรกรผู้ผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก 7) การส่งเสริมแนวทางการช่วยเหลือเกษตรกรที่ประสบภัยพิบัติด้านการเกษตร ส่งเสริมให้เกษตรกรขึ้นทะเบียนและปรับปรุงทะเบียนเกษตรกรอย่างสม่ำเสมอ เพื่อให้ง่ายต่อการเข้าถึงความช่วยเหลือเมื่อเกิดภัยพิบัติ 8) การส่งเสริมการใช้เทคโนโลยีดิจิทัลแก่เกษตรกรที่ผลิตทุเรียนเพื่อการส่งออก 9) ส่งเสริมการใช้เครื่องมืออุปกรณ์การเกษตรให้แก่เกษตรกร และ 10) ส่งเสริมการสนับสนุนการปฏิบัติงานเชิงพื้นที่
