Abstract:
Waiting in a queue is common in our daily activities such buying a coffee, seeing a doctor at a hospital. Long waiting in a queue has negatives effects on customer satisfaction and customer perception on service quality. Queue management is the important part in the service industry. Nowadays, most service organizations implement the ticket queue technology to manage the queue. Arrival customer get the ticket that contain queue information such as the predicted waiting time. However, the disadvantage of the ticket queue technology is losing queue information and the inaccurate waiting time prediction. The inaccurate waiting time increases the number of customer abandonment. The customer abandonment also affects the system utilization and the revenue of the organization. Based on the problem, this research developed the queue management system which can provide the accurate waiting time to arrival customer. Moreover, the reservation system was also developed in this research. Comparing to the traditional ticket queue, the developed system can provide the more accurate waiting time to each customer. More than 95 % of predicted waiting time is accurate within 5 minutes, and the queue reservation can increase the revenue and the utilization for all cases. Therefore, the developed system increases the performance of the system and customer satisfaction at the same time.
