Impacts from feedback on learning and motivation implications for becoming a productive workplace
Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is gaining more insights into the impacts from feedback on human learning is a challenge for workplace learning. These insights include how feedback plays a role in learning and motivation of a worker. Again, this study is part of an overall effort on improving QWL which contributes to labor productivity. Due to the need to conduct a longitude study through observation and interviews, the research uses a school instead of a workplace as the focal point. Using case study of revised pedagogy project in BMA schools that applied openloop learning in to the pedagogy. By study the effect and relationship of each feedback (including with: positive feedback, negative feedback, constructive feedback, and indirect feedback from external entities trough workshops, academic showcase, and external supported) that impact to learning and motivation of learners through using Structure Equation Model (SEM). The results from SEM shows that all model fit indices passed the specified criteria. The model implies both constructive feedback and indirect feedback are effective to learning. By constructive feedback does not add the pressure on a student and given the guidance. While indirect feedback provide opportunity a student to explain and demonstrate a students work that help student to recall the knowledge and prove the students understanding of learning. In context of motivation, students gain more confidence and better understanding of the subject matters after receiving constructive feedback which contribute directly to motivation. While received the recognized from external entities (indirect feedback) helped student enhance students motivation. Learning also has direct effect to motivation. When student be able to recall relevant knowledge and skills from experiment, that help student gain more confident and this is a critical for enhance students motivation. From the school to the workplace context, the study reveals many useful insights which should help an organization prepare and redesign how feedback is developed and disseminated to its staffs. So, the issues relating on how a person learns is not only applicable for training and development but can also contributes to higher productivity (and later a high-performance organization).
