Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to 1) compare the reading ability in English subject of Matthayomsuksa 1 students before and after cooperative learning management by CIRC technique and 2) compare the reading ability in English subject of Matthayomsuksa 1 students after cooperative learning management by CIRC technique with the criteria 80% of full score. The samples were 31 Matthayomsuksa 1 students of Banboongkla School obtained by cluster random sampling. The study instruments were 1) the 3 lesson plans concerning the cooperative learning management by CIRC technique with the most appropriate (x̅ = 4.68, S.D. = 0.17) and 2) the 30 items of reading ability assessment form with the validity between 0.67-1.00, the difficulty between 0.41-0.56, the discrimination between 0.25-0.75 and the reliability as 0.71. The data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, dependent sample t-test and one sample t-test.
The study findings were as follows:
1. The Matthayomsuksa 1 students were received the cooperative learning management by CIRC technique had the mean score before learning as 16.68, standard deviation as 3.15, and after learning had the mean score as 25.94, standard deviation as 2.27. The comparison of the reading ability before and after was found that the reading ability after learning higher than before statistically significant at the .05 level.
2. The Matthayomsuksa 1 students were received the learning by cooperative learning management by CIRC technique had the mean score after learning as 25.94, standard deviation as 2.27. The comparison of the reading ability and the criteria 80 %of full score was found that the reading ability after learning higher than the criteria 80% of full score statistically significant at the .05 level.
