The development of English braille literacy for the students with visual impairment by using an activity-based learning method

การพัฒนาความสามารถในการอ่านและเขียนอักษรเบรลล์ภาษาอังกฤษ สำหรับนักเรียนที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเห็น โดยใช้การเรียนรู้แบบเน้นกิจกรรมเป็นฐาน

Abstract: The objectives of this classroom research were (1) to compare English braille literacy skill of students with visual impairment before and after using an activity-based learning method and (2) to study classroom environment of students with visual impairment while learning by using an activity-based learning method. 15 students of grade 1 from 3 classes at the Bangkok School for the Blind were sample of this research. Purposive sampling was used to select the sample group. Instruments used in collecting data were lesson plans, English braille tests and a classroom environment observation guideline. Statistical Analysis software SPSS was used to analyze data regarding reading accuracy, reading speed and writing accuracy. Results showed that English Braille literacy skill of students with visual impairment after using an activity-based learning method was higher than before using the method. It was statistically significant at 0.05 for writing accuracy. From classroom environment observation of students while learning using an activity-based learning method, it was found that all students participated in activities and had good relationship with each other and with the teacher. Students could also understand the activities and lessons. The activities that students enjoyed the most were bingo game (reading activity) and braille drawing (writing activity).

Abstract: การวิจัยเรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) เปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการอ่านและเขียนอักษรเบรลล์ภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเห็นก่อนและหลังการใช้การเรียนรู้แบบเน้นกิจกรรมเป็นฐาน (2) เพื่อศึกษาบรรยากาศในชั้นเรียนของนักเรียนที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเห็นขณะใช้การเรียนรู้แบบเน้นกิจกรรมเป็นฐาน กลุ่มตัวอย่างในการวิจัยนี้เป็นนักเรียนโรงเรียนสอนคนตาบอดกรุงเทพ ระดับประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 จำนวน 15 คน จาก 3 ห้องเรียน โดยใช้วิธีการเลือกแบบเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล คือ แผนการเรียนรู้ แบบทดสอบอักษรเบรลล์ภาษาอังกฤษ และแบบสังเกตบรรยากาศในชั้นเรียน ใช้โปรแกรมวิเคราะห์ทางสถิติเพื่อประมวลข้อมูลด้านความถูกต้องในการอ่าน ความเร็วในการอ่าน และความถูกต้องในการเขียน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ความสามารถในการอ่านและเขียนอักษรเบรลล์ภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเห็นหลังการใช้การเรียนรู้แบบเน้นกิจกรรมเป็นฐานสูงกว่าความสามารถในการอ่านและเขียนอักษรเบรลล์ภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนที่มีความบกพร่องทางการเห็นก่อนการใช้การเรียนรู้แบบเน้นกิจกรรมเป็นฐาน และมีความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยยะสำคัญทางสถิติที่ .05 ในด้านความถูกต้องในการเขียน จากการสังเกตบรรยากาศในชั้นเรียนขณะเรียนโดยใช้การเรียนรู้แบบเน้นกิจกรรมเป็นฐาน พบว่านักเรียนทุกคนมีส่วนร่วมในกิจกรรมและมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่ดีต่อครูและต่อนักเรียนด้วยกันเอง และมีความเข้าใจในกิจกรรมและบทเรียน สาหรับกิจกรรมที่นักเรียนชื่นชอบและสนุกสนานมากที่สุดคือเกมบิงโก (กิจกรรมการอ่าน) และวาดรูปอักษรเบรลล์ (กิจกรรมการเขียน)
