Abstract:
This study has three main goals. The first goal is to investigate the traditional medical knowledge background prior to the introduction of Western medicine. The second goal is to investigate the major causes that influenced Siamese culture to embrace Western medical knowledge between 1828 and 1927. Finally, the final goal is to investigate the outcome of the spread of Western medicine information. According to the findings of the study, Eastern Traditional especially Siamese Medicine integrates Indian and Chinese expertise. It is based on religious concepts that are consistent with wisdom, beliefs, and traditional traditions. The leaders of the ancient state or dramatic state would establish a network of city-states with territorial power in the eastern region by managing for the happiness of the people. Traditional Siam Medicine was founded on Buddhist concepts and ancient beliefs known as Saiyarak the old testaments or herbal medicine textbooks, as well as prognosis of ailments derived from the past, such as: 1) Thai Traditional Medicine or ceremonial medicine practitioners such as mor pra, mor song (conjuror), mor dham, mor pon or mor su-kwan (Thai blessing healer, Jolmamuat worship and mor tam-yae (midwife). 2) External medicine, such as vedic medicine or Ayurvedic, Chinese medicine, which has been yin-yang theory and herbal medicine textbooks of the Yellow Emperor's Huangdi Neijing, and Western medicine, and Western or modern medicine from ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the Arabs based on scientific principles such as surgery and the use of certain drugs. The arrival of the first missionaries in 1828 increased public and elite acceptance of Western medicine.
