The Comparison of Learning Achievement and Attitudes Toward Physical Science of Grade Twelve Students between Predict-Observe-Explain (Poe) Teaching Method with Concept Instructional Media by SolidWorks and The Traditional Method (5E)
Abstract:
This research is conducted with the following objectives: 1) compare the learning achievement of students who receive the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) instructional approach combined with SolidWorks instructional media before and after learning, 2) compare post-study achievement between students who received the method. Conduct Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) learning with SolidWorks teaching materials and students who receive the traditional method (5E), and 3) compare attitudes towards science between students who received the method. Conduct Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) learning with SolidWorks teaching materials and students who receive the traditional method (5E). The study involved sixth-grade students, with 35 students in the experimental group and 35 in the control group. The research tools included: 1) POE instructional plan combined with SolidWorks and a conventional 5E instructional plan on projectile motion 2) test measuring science learning outcomes on projectile motion, and 3) survey measuring attitudes toward physical science. Statistics used for analysis, including mean scores, standard deviations, independent samples t-test, and dependent samples t-test. The research findings indicate that: 1) the learning achievement of students who received the POE teaching method combined with SolidWorks was significantly higher after learning compared to before learning, 2) the post-learning achievement of students who received the POE teaching method combined with SolidWorks differed significantly from those who received the traditional 5E method, and 3) after learning, students who received the POE teaching method combined with SolidWorks exhibited significantly higher science attitudes compared to students who received the traditional 5E method, at a statistical significance level of 0.05
