The Development of Learning Activities Using Design Thinking Process and Buddhist Art in The Community to Enhance Packaging Design Ability for Grade 4 Students of Ban Jambon School
Abstract:
The objectives of this research were: 1) Develop learning activities using the design thinking process with Buddhist art resources in the community to enhance packaging design abilities for students in grades 4, and 2) To study the outcomes of these learning activities. This quasi-experimental research involved 20 students in grade 4 at Ban Jambon School, studying in the 2nd semester of academic year 2023, selected through purposive sampling. The research tools included lesson plans, pre- and post- tests on packaging design, and a packaging design skills assessment form. Data analysis comprised descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, and dependent sample T-tests. Research results found that: 1) Learning activities using the design thinking process with Buddhist art resources in the community to develop packaging design abilities were highly appropriate (mean =4.72, S.D. = 0.06) and 2) Post-test scores in packaging design were higher than those of the pre-test scores, with a statistical significance of 0.05. The skills obtained from the design thinking process learning activities facilitated students in understanding the packaging usage problems, analysis of such problems, brainstorming solutions, creating prototypes, and testing packaging models.
