Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to compare the conventional cashless fare payment with the new cashless fare payment method, and to study the feasibility of implementing the cashless system in the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA). This research was a qualitative research. Documentary research method was employed to synthesize data from past research. This included books, journals and articles related to a cashless society, using online technology materials for electronic payment of goods and services through devices such as smartphones, electronic payment device or card acceptors or card readers. In addition, the behavior of service users and technology adoption was studied in order to compare and study the trend of the expansion of a cashless society.
The results of the research showed that cashless payment was likely to expand continuingly. This was due to strong competition in the consumer business and the development of electronic models to meet the needs of consumers. Therefore, ease of use, quick response and high security have resulted an increase of adoption and usage of the technology.
