Abstract:
Malaria is a serious parasitic infection that is transferred to humans by mosquito bites of an infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. The burden of malaria morbidity and mortality is highest in the tropical regions. The objective of this literature review is to identify inequities in the access and use of malaria care services. The study systematically reviewed literature on malaria control programs in Cambodia and found gaps in services and programs, inadequate infrastructural facilities, and low coverage, and poor access and some individual factors as contributing to the inequitable access in malaria elimination interventions. The inequities in access and use of malaria care programs in Cambodia could be challenging to malaria elimination efforts and the global malaria-free agenda. Targeted interventions in reducing malaria transmission at the individual level by providing more functional primary healthcare services aimed at these complex issues could be effective in controlling malaria in Cambodia and the Mekong Sub region
