Abstract:
The road bridge has deteriorated over time, although designed to last a long lifetime. The deterioration of the bridge leads to a decline in quality. This can be accomplished by assessing the structure's surrounding damage and comparing it to the established standards. The standards were categorized into four categories: structural components classification, damage classification, classification of severity, and maintenance level classification. The potential applications of these standards are compared their limitations, advantages, and disadvantages are discussed between the four standards: Thailand, AASHTO, FHWA, and JICA. This independent study suggests the guideline for inspecting and assessing the road bridge in Thailand. The information gaps in this independent study are outlined to motivate the usage standards for other research purposes in civil engineering and propose different condition-stage of damage, damage occurs, and damage criteria from various road bridge elements to perform proper maintenance
