Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the elements of group counseling based on Buddhist Psychology for reinforcing learning attitude of novices of Wat Dao Wadung Saram; and 2) to develop and apply the group counseling program based on Buddhist Psychology for reinforcing learning attitude of novices of Wat Dao Wadung Saram, Bang Yi Khan Sub-district, Bang Plat District, Bangkok; and 3) to assess group counseling based on Buddhist Psychology for reinforcing learning attitude of novices of Wat Dao Wadung Saram. It was a quasi-experimental research in nature, using a questionnaire to collect data from 24 samples of monks and novices studying at Wat Dao Wadung Saram, Bang Yi Khan Sub-district, Bang Plat District, Bangkok selected by a random sampling method divided into control group and experimental group with 12 participants each. The statistics including Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation and t-test was employed to analyze the data.
The study findings were as follows:
1. The elements of group counseling based on Buddhist Psychology for reinforcing learning attitude of novices of Wat Dao Wadung Saram consisted of 4 processes including 1) building faith, 2) open-minded conversation, 3) enhancing Dharma enhancing wisdom, 4) seeking peace. Moreover, there should raise awareness of reasons, effects, oneself, time, community, and contentment, resulting in Samneras positive desire, demonstrating a preference for learning about various issues with understanding and knowing how to apply positive desire to their own learning.
2. The group counseling program based on Buddhist Psychology for reinforcing learning attitude of novices of Wat Dao Wadung Saram, Bang Yi Khan Sub-district, Bang Plat District, Bangkok consisted of 12 activities including 1) making friendship, 2) what I think, 3) dreaming far and reaching, 4) lets study, 5) I and You, 6) brainstorming, 7) what I can give, 8) my favorite subjects, 9) what to do, 10) evolution, 11) being always ready, and 12) post training, and these activities have been inspected by 5 experts,
3. The results of assessing group counseling based on Buddhist Psychology for reinforcing learning attitude of novices of Wat Dao Wadung Saram were revealed that the mean and standard deviation of the experimental group after an experiment were at high level of 4.09, and comparing pre-experiment and post-experiment there was a statistically significant difference at the level of 0,05, as for the control group receiving the information found that the learning attitude of the novices before and after was a statistically significant difference at the level of 0,05, and when comparing the learning attitude of the novices in the experimental group receiving the information group counseling and that of the control group receiving the information it was not different,
