The learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model to develop mathematics learning achievement for secondary 2 (grade 8) students
Abstract:
This research aimed to: 1) compare the Mathematics learning achievement of Secondary 2 (Grade 8) students studying through the learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model against the 70% criterion, 2) compare the Mathematics learning achievements of the students before and after studying through the learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model, and 3) study the students satisfaction towards Mathematics learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model.
The sample group, obtained by purposive sampling, consisted of 29 Secondary 2 students who were studying at the Innovation Demonstration School of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi in the academic year 2021. The research instruments included: 1) lesson plans of the learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model, 2) a Mathematics achievement test, and 3) a satisfaction assessment form. The mean, standard deviation, and t-test were statistics used for data analysis.
The research results were as follows: 1) the Mathematics learning achievement of Secondary 2 students studying through the learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model was higher than the set criterion of 70% at the statistical significance level of .05, 2) the students Mathematics learning achievement after studying through the learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach combined with the bar model was higher than that before the learning management at the statistical significance level of .05, and 3) the students satisfaction toward the Mathematic learning management of the Concrete-Pictorial- Abstraction was at a high level.
