Abstract:
The objective of this research is to study the development of concepts on chemical bonding by 5E inquiry-based learning incorporated with the game. The participants of this study were twenty-four 10th grade students in Science-Mathematics program from Hatyaiwittayalai School, Songkhla province. A concept test on chemical bonding was used as data collection tools. The learning process through 5E inquiry-based learning incorporated with the game that gives students to learn through games in the form of searching for answers to achieve competitive goals. Then, students use concepts from the game to create models. The concepts were categorized into 5 categories: sound understanding, partial understanding, partial understanding with specific misconception, specific misconception and no understanding. The finding indicated that 5E inquiry-based learning incorporated with the game could develop concepts on chemical bonding. This research also found that the game could encourage students to understand chemistry at a microscopic level and a symbolic level
