Desirable Characteristics of School Administrators in Secondary Schools in Pathum Thani Province under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office
Abstract:
This research aimed to: 1 ) investigate the desirable characteristics of administrators in secondary schools in Pathum Thani province under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office, and 2) propose the guidelines for developing desirable characteristics of administrators in secondary schools in Pathum Thani province under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office.
The research sample consisted of 335 teachers under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office in the academic year 2020, selected using stratified sampling method. The key informants included seven school administrators under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office. The instruments included a questionnaire and an interview form. The collected data were analyzed by using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.
The research result revealed that: 1) the overall desirable characteristics of administrators in secondary schools in Pathum Thani province under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office was at a high level, and 2) the guidelines for developing desirable characteristics of administrators in secondary schools, Pathum Thani province under Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office included seven areas. (1) The knowledge and competence area referred to studying the structure of educational institutions, courses, and criteria for evaluating academic achievement, as well as constant learning and self-development. (2) The leadership area referred to creating a motivating workplace, supporting subordinates, building human relationships with reliance on the subordinates, listening to problems, and assisting like a true friend. (3) The morality area referred to following the rules and regulations of each job in order to work fairly and impartially, listening to others opinions, and managing with equity. (4) The personality area referred to being judicious, listening to subordinates opinions, giving explanation with reasons and effects, and condoning subordinates. 5) The vision area referred to attending trainings, meetings, and seminars, as well as using various forms of technology to integrate knowledge into their work with efficiency. (6) The human relationship area referred to being sincere, taking care of subordinates, and providing assistances like family members. (7) The accountability area referred to inquiring subordinates in order to find a solution to a problem.
