Development of learning management in discovery method accompanied by collaborative learning to enhance scientific inquiry competency in science subject for secondary 3 (Grade 9) students
Abstract:
This research aimed to: 1) study the level of scientific investigation competency of the Secondary 3 (Grade 9) students and 2) compare the scientific investigation competency of the Secondary 3 (Grade 9) students after studying with discovery method accompanied by collaborative learning, and traditional learning.
Research samples were 64 Secondary 3 (Grade 9) students from Sarasas Witaed Rangsit school, Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani, selected by cluster sampling. Research instruments included: 1) the traditional learning management plans, 2) the discovery method accompanied by the collaborative learning management plans, and 3) a scientific investigation competency test. The statistical techniques used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and independent samples t-test.
The research results revealed that: 1) the scientific investigation competency in Science of the Secondary 3 (Grade 9) students was at a high level and 2) the Secondary 3 (Grade 9) students studying through discovery method accompanied by collaborative learning had a higher level of the scientific investigation competency in Science than those studying through traditional learning with statistically significant difference at the level of .05.
