Abstract:
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) or human herpesvirus 4 (HHV4) is a virus that spreads all over the world causes of infectious mononucleosis. Human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cervical cancer and genital warts. Both infections can cause of oral cancer. Viruses will be transmitted through secretion and sexual transmission. This virus might infections in human blood and risk of blood donation. However, the question is can virus might be transmitted through water. EBV DNA has never been reported in water sources. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the presence of EBV and HPV in water and human blood sample in healthy populations in Muang District, Phayao province using shotgun metagenomic sequencing, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and also Realtime PCR. Viral EBV DNA were found from human blood sample, natural water of Huay Na Poi, natural water of Kwan Phayao, tap water of Mae Ka, and tap water of Amphoe Mueang Phayao which is the same species in human blood sample. The prevalence of EBV DNA was detected in the blood 59 of 813 volunteers (7.26%) age 3-90 years by using PCR and real time PCR methods. HPV was not found in this study. Therefore, this experiment can conclude that EBV DNA was found in natural water and tap water in Muang District, Phayao Province. EBV DNA in the blood sample
