The Effects of Cooperative Learning through LT Technique together with TITLE Mind Mapping on Reading Comprehension and Analytical Thinking Abilities of Grade 4 Students
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to compare students' reading comprehension abilities between before and after learning with learning by using cooperative learning LT techniques together with mind mapping of grade 4 students, 2) to compare students' analytical thinking abilities between before and after learning with learning management by using cooperative learning through LT techniques together with mind mapping of grade 4 students and; 3) to study students' satisfaction towards learning management by using cooperative learning through LT techniques together with mind mapping of grade 4 students. The samples of this study were 22 grade 4 students of Ban Sumrong (Bangmod 2514) School, Nong Yai subdistrict, Prasart district, Surin province under Office of Surin Primary Educational Service Area 3 studying in first semester of 2022 academic year, obtained through cluster random sampling technique using the classrooms as the sampling units. The instruments consisted of: 1) 12 lesson plans with a total of 16 hours, 2) 20 items of 4- choice reading comprehension test with difficulty index between 0.59 to 0.73, the discrimination index between 0.36 to 0.73 and reliability index of 0.84, 3) 20 items of 4- choice analytical thinking test with difficulty index between 0.59 to 0.77, the discrimination index between 0.27 to 0.73 and reliability index of 0.83; and 4) a 15-item 5-point rating scale satisfaction questionnaire towards learning management by using cooperative learning through LT techniques together with mind mapping of grade 4 students. The research results were as follows: 1. The students' reading comprehension abilities after learning with learning management by using cooperative learning through LT techniques together with mind mapping was higher than before learning at statistically significant difference of .05 level. 2. The students' analytical thinking abilities after learning with learning management by using cooperative learning through LT techniques together with mind mapping was higher than before learning with statistically significant difference of .05 level. 3. The students' satisfaction towards the learning management by using cooperative learning through LT techniques together with mind mapping, overall, was at the highest level."
