The topp-leone generalized exponential distribution
Abstract:
A new framework for generating the generalized exponential distribution is introduced, resulting in the Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution. In addition, the Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution is extended from the generalized exponential distribution in term of genesis of generator. While the proposed distribution is generated from the Topp-Leone distribution, the generalized exponential distribution is generated from the uniform distribution. Furthermore, some properties of the Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution are discussed, e.g., survival function, hazard function, moment generating function, and order statistics. Also, the graphical representations related to the probability density function and associated hazard function of the Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution are provided. To apply the Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution with real world phenomena, its parameter estimation is one of the crucial parts. Thus, we conduct a simulation study and compare performance between the maximum likelihood method and Bayesian approach. The parameters of Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution are estimated in various scenarios. The criterion in parameter estimator comparison is the root mean square error. As a result, the Bayesian method is likely to outperform the maximum likelihood method. In application study, the goodness of fit test based on the generalized exponential, exponentiated generalized exponential, and Topp-Leone generalized exponential distributions are discussed. The results emphasize that the Topp-Leone generalized exponential distribution can be considered as a competitive distribution for the generalized exponential and exponentiated generalized exponential distributions for lifetime data analysis.
