The study of sleep behaviour and health literacy in adulthood
Abstract:
This is a cross-sectional study which aims to investigate and describe the association among health literacy, sleep behavior and demographic data in adulthood. Secondary data from the survey research of Regional Health Promotion Center 3, Nakhon Sawan on the topic of survey of the current situation and health behavior of population has been applied to this study. The data included a sample of 2,432 people aged between 20-59. Statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-Square and One-way ANOVA. The results show that 39.6% of the subjects have low health literacy, 23% reported had short sleep duration and 37.5% had sleep problem. Regarding the demographic data, this study found that sleep duration was associated with gender, education level, income and BMI (p=0.05). The study found out that the relationship between sleep problem and demographics data follows gender, marital status, education level, income, chronic illness, age and area. The relationship between health literacy and demographic data follows gender, marriage status, education levels, areas, careers, chronic illness, age and BMI levels (p=0.05). Lastly, sleep duration and sleep problem were not related significantly with health literacy at significance level of 0.05.
