Abstract:
This experimental research, a pre-test and post-test design, aimed at developing pediatric oncology inpatient services. The implementation of the developed model of pediatric oncology inpatient services was tested at the Pediatric Oncology Inpatient Ward at Somdech Phra Debaratana Medical Center (SDMC), Ramathibodi Hospital, from October 1, 2016 - September 30, 2017. The samples were from the pediatric oncology inpatient services at SDMC, including 3 managers, 20 nurses, and 16 patients' relatives. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The implementation results were compared before and after applying the developed model in the aspects of work quantity, work quality, service duration and labor within service, satisfaction of individuals involved, and economics. Data were analyzed using qualitative statistics, Independent t-test, and Pearson Chi-Square statistics at the alpha values of 0 .05 . The results of 5 implementation aspects were better than before the experiment. The newly developed model had complete elements in its principle, structure, and methods, and implementing the model continuously will lead to sustainability by using existing resources without complicated procedures. The researcher recommended to continuously develop this model to be the nation's implementation sample of pediatric oncology inpatient services by applying the Routine to Research approach (R2R).
