Abstract:
The objective of this qualitative research was to study the transference of Nang Dong song from a local wisdom teacher in Khum Ban Na, Prachinburi Province, using in-depth interview. The results showed that the transference method was teaching by telling the ancient song-story in six steps: (1) selection of learners based on learners' qualities: (2) the telling of the background story of a Nang Dong song, and its purpose in holy rites; (3) teaching learners to sing the Nang Dong song by imitating the teacher; (4) teaching learners how to play the Nang Dong song by either teaching, explaining the technique and instruments used for playing, or by teaching by example, step-by-step; (5) selecting players using criteria appropriate to the ability of the learners, and; (6) measurement and evaluation.
