Abstract:
The thesis entitled An Analytical Study of Sukhavagga in Dhammapada Scripture. There are three objectives; 1) To study the structure and content regarding to happiness in the Sukhavagga , 2) To study the happiness that appears in the Tipitaka, 3) To analyze the nature of happiness in the Sukhavagga. This is the documentary research.
The result of this research was found that the structure and content regarding happiness in the Sukhavagga, there are 8 subjects, namely; 1) Ñātikalahavūsamana Vatthu The Pacification of the Relatives of the Buddha. 2) Māra Vatthu Mara. 3) Kosalarañño Parājaya Vatthu Defeat of Kosala King. 4) Aññatarakuladārika Vatthu a Young Bride. 5) AññatarapupaAññatarasaka Vatthu a Lay-Disciple. 6) Pasenadikosala Vatthu King Pasenadikosala. 7) Tissatthera Vatthu Tissa Thera. 8) Sakka Vatthu Sakka (Lord of the Devil).
The happiness that appears in the Tripitaka was found that 1) The 13 categories of happiness, by being arranged in pairs and its have an opposite meaning, The happiness can be divided into 2 types, namely; the house-lifes happiness and the ordained-lifes happiness. 2) The happinesss level, There are 10 which dividid into 2 main levels, namely; Mundane and Supermundane, and can divided into 5 levels, namely; (1) The Sense Pleasures, (2) Happiness in the Fine-Material sphere, (3) Happiness in the Immaterial sphere, (4) The happiness by extinction of perception and feeling, (5) The Nibbanas happiness.
The nature of happiness in Sukhavagga was found that 1) Without enmity of each other, 2) Without trouble because the defilements (Kilesa), 3) Not striving for the sensual pleasures (Kāmagana 5), 4) Without any Defilements, 5) Living with the Noble One and the Philosopher will be blessed.
