Abstract:
The study consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the work performance of moral teaching monks in educational institutions, Pho Thale District, Phichit Province; and 2) to propose the guidelines of work performance for moral teaching monks based on Saṇgahavatthu in educational institutions, Pho Thale District, Phichit Province. A mixed-methods research approach was used in the study. The quantitative data were acquired using a group sample of 181 people chosen using the Krejcie and Morgan sampling technique. The research tool was a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire with a reliability of.97. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative data employed semi-structured interview with 9 key informants. The obtained data were analyzed in a descriptive method.
From the study, the following results are found:
1. The work performance of moral teaching monks in educational institutions, Pho Thale District, Phichit Province is overall at a high level (x̅= 4.32, S.D. = 42). When all aspects are taken into account, the following aspects are in descending order: 1) Measurement and evaluation; 2) The use of teaching media; 3) Content; and 4) The teaching and learning management.
2. The guidelines of work performance for moral teaching monks based on Saṇgahavatthu in educational institutions, Pho Thale District, Phichit Province are as follows: 1) Dāna (giving), in which moral teaching monks should receive training on knowledge of teaching methods and encouragement for their work performance; 2) Piyavācā (kindly speech), in which administrators and moral teaching monks should use polite words to communicate and offer guidance on work; 3) Samānattatā (participation and behaving oneself properly in all circumstances), in which moral teaching monks should make available learning resources to students, assist them in creating media, and teach them problem-solving skills; and 4) Atthacariyā (useful conduct), in which moral teaching monks should choose the evaluation method that is suitable to learning objectives, and there should be a budget support for buying technology for moral teaching monks for the teaching and learning management.
