Abstract:
The Noni seed, waste of Noni juice process was studied as in the form of ethanolic
soxhlet crude extract. The factor of ripening stage was compared. It was found that the
trends of total phenolics, flavonoids contents, and free radical scavenging activity
decrement were constantly found. The raw stage was revealed to be the superior
candidate than those of matured and ripe stages, respectively. The total phenolics and
flavonoids contents of seed were 25.41+0.50 mg GAE/g extract and 128.98+3.33 mg
QE/g extract, respectively. The free radical scavenging activity by means of DPPH
assay showed the polyphenols content-related result of the highest activity of raw seed
extract (13.50+0.91 mg TEAC/g extract). The application of raw Noni seed extract
(0.25 percent, w/w) in facial serum was studied. The resulting physicochemical stable under
heating-cooling test. The recent study revealed the utilization of the waste of Noni
products process by raising the value to the seed part as active ingredient. The further
cosmetic efficacies investigation of the product was suggested.
