Abstract:
The design of this study was quasi-experimental, with two groups: pretest and posttest. The project aimed to compare the average scores of food and nutrition literacy among upper primary school students in the experimental group before and after the experiment and between the experimental group and control group after the experiment among upper primary school students at Nong Sanho sub-district, Sam Ngam District, Phichit Province. The sample consisted of 60 upper primary school students, divided into 30 in the experimental group and another 30 in the control group, which were sampled by two-step random sampling. The tools used were a food and nutrition literacy program and a questionnaire on food and nutrition literacy. Data were analyzed as follows: descriptive statistics: Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, maximum value, and minimum value; and reference statistics: Paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The results revealed that the experimental groups average food and nutrition literacy scores at post-program were significantly higher than those at pre-program and higher than those of the control group (p-value .05). This food and nutrition literacy program improved food and nutrition literacy among upper primary school students. The program should be applied to other groups of upper primary school students.
