Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the problems of personnel s development faced by administrators in primary schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office as a whole and according to schools size and to compare such problems in different size schools.
The 201 sample subjects in this study including administrators, assistant administrators and heads of personnel from primary schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office were derived through the stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used for the data collection was a questionnaire of checklists and open ended questions. Percentage, mean, standard deviation and one way analysis of variance were used to analyze the data.
The findings were as follows : 1. As a whole the Office problems faced by administrators in primary schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office was at a low level. Concerning each separate aspect, the problems either on the aspect of in service training or performance development was at a moderate level while the problems of development through administrative process and encouragement to personnel in furthering their study were at a low level.
2. According to school size, the problems faced by administrators in small-size schools were overall at a low level. Concerning each separate aspect, the problems, either on the aspect of in-service training or performance development, were at a moderate level whereas the problems of development through administrative process and encouragement to personnel in furthering their study were at low levels. Likewise, the problems faced by administrators in middle-size schools were overall at a low level. However, in-service training problems in theses schools were at a moderate level while the problems either on the aspect of in-service training or performance development or development through administrative process and encouragement to personnel in furthering their study were at a low level. Moreover, the problems faced by administrators in bid schools were overall at a moderate level. With similar findings to small schools, the problems faced in big schools, either on the aspect of in-service training or performance development, were at a moderate level whereas the problems of development through administrative process and encouragement to personnel in furthering their study were at low levels.
3. Comparing the problems faced by administrators in different-size primary schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office, the only aspect that revealed significant difference at the level of .05 was in-service training. The other aspectsproblems of performance development, development through administrative process and encouragement to personnel in furthering their study were not significantly different.
